After acceptance

Style Guide

Once accepted, articles must be formatted in accordance with the HSCP Style Guide. For guidance on matters not treated in the Style Guide, authors are encouraged to consult the Chicago Manual of Style (17th edition) or to contact the Production Editor at hscp@fas.harvard.edu.

File formats

For production, we require an editable text document (Word, Pages, or RTF format) as well as a PDF to use as a check.

Proofreading

All manuscripts should be carefully proofread again. While HSCP does employ copyeditors, this adds significantly to the expense of producing the journal. Authors of manuscripts which contain quantities of typos or errors in citations/bibliography may be requested to reimburse us for the cost of their copyediting.

Non-native English speakers are strongly encouraged to have a native speaker, preferably one with knowledge of the field, read the final version, particularly if a native English speaker did not check the original manuscript, or if the manuscript has changed substantially from the original submission.

HSCP publishes in American English; articles in British English will be adapted for publication.

Citations

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of all citations and quotations. Please check these carefully before submitting your final version for publication.

Images

Authors must supply high-quality digital images as separate files and are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce them. HSCP cannot subvent the cost of acquiring permissions. Details on images and permissions for publication may be found in our Style Guide.

Copies and offprints

After publication, authors will receive two complimentary copies of the volume. We have discontinued the practice of providing paper offprints, but in most cases a PDF can be provided upon request.
